WineFi Weekly
Welcome to the fourth edition of WineFi Weekly👋
📅 April 8th 2024
What’s happening in the wine investing world?
Liv-ex 100 rises
The Liv-ex Fine Wine 100 rose 0.4% in March, the first rise in 12 months.
Looking at the wider market, the Liv-ex Fine Wine 1000 (which tracks 1,000 wines from across the world) declined by 0.6%, a much milder decline compared to that recorded in February (1.3%).
Two Napa Valley wines were among the top performers of the Liv-ex 100 index. Promontory, Napa Valley 2018 (+15.9%) and Dominus, Napa Valley 2019 (+5.6%). This was reflected in the California 50 index which only had a modest dip of 0.1% in March.
Both the 2018 and the 2019 vintages of Sassicaia featured among the top risers, following on from the 2020 featuring amongst the top performers last month as well.
Good signs?
As Q1 2024 comes to a close, there are promising signs in the Wine Investing world. New releases from the USA and Italy helped an increase in both volume and value traded on the wine secondary market compared to the start of the year.
Growth is evident in the Liv-ex Champagne 50’s 1% uplift and the Italy 100 benchmark’s 0.1% rise. The latest data from Liv-ex saw more softening in the downward trajectory of most regional benchmarks, but it’s still an opportunistic market for buyers.
Champagne pullback
Among the Liv-ex sub-indices, the Champagne 50 recorded the most significant decline - dropping 2.2%, a reversal from its positive movement the previous month.

NBRHD Capital and WineFi
NBRHD Capital and WineFi 🍷 are teaming up to bring expertly-curated portfolios of fine wine, on-chain.
Tokenisation is the future of capital markets full stop, but it is set to entirely revolutionise illiquid alternatives like fine wine.
Imagine a world where tokens representing shares in portfolios of fine wine (or an artwork, or a classic car, or basket of music rights) can be traded as easily as sending money from your Monzo Bank account.
It isn't a pipe dream. It's already here.

UK Startup Award Finalists
We are thrilled to have made it through to the London finals for the UK Startup of the year award in the (clearly quite loosely defined) AgriTech and FoodTech category.
Exciting news nonetheless, and we’re happy to be categorised like this until “VinTech” catches on!
