Coterie Holdings takes position in WineFi

We are incredibly excited to announce that Coterie Holdings, a prestigious holdco for wine businesses, has taken a position in WineFi. This also sees Michael Saunders, their CEO, join our board of directors.

This strategic partnership represents an endorsement of WineFi by some of the most respected figures in the global wine trade.

What this means for WineFi customers:
  • Exclusive events for our customers via Lay & Wheeler.

  • Preferential storage and insurance rates at Coterie Vaults, a state of the art storage facility for fine wine.

  • Access to great assets, at great valuations, at scale.

What’s happening in the wine world?

  • Good time to buy? Since the start of the year, prices of the wines on the Liv-ex 1000 index have fallen by an average of 3.5%.

  • The Liv-ex Champagne 50 Index rose for the first time since October 2022. One of WineFi’s favourites - Salon, Le Mesnil, leading the way in % price increase.

  • Italian wines are also doing (comparatively) well (the second monthly rise in the last 3 months). Recent 2021 releases of Sassicaia and Ornellaia, and the imminent release of Tignanello have perhaps stimulated interest in back vintages of Tuscan wines.

  • Bordeaux remains the most traded wine on the secondary market, with 33.3% of last week’s total trade by value. Burgundy closed the gap at the top, increasing from 21.7% to 27%, helped in large part by increased trade of Domaine de la Romanee-Conti.
